BIP snaps up UK energy and sustainability consultancy Verco

Global consulting business BIP has snapped up energy management and sustainability consultancy Verco, in a move the two firms today hailed as evidence of their “joint dedication to sustainability and addressing climate change”.

Under the terms of deal, financial details for which have not been disclosed, Verco’s more than 80-strong workforce is set to join forces with BIP’s Sustainability Centre of Excellent in a move designed to deliver “a more comprehensive and impactful service benefitting society and the planet”.

Both firms, which are already certified B-Corps in the UK, work with companies across the industrial, central government, retail, and commercial real estate sectors to reduce their environmental impacts and develop net zero strategies.

The deal is designed to enable both firms to access more extensive resources, cutting edge technologies, research assets, expertise and international talent, according to BIP, which said the expanded business would help clients “meet their sustainability and ESG goals in an ever-evolving landscape”.

“We are thrilled to be working closely with Verco, an organisation that mirrors our dedication to providing solutions for a zero-carbon future,” said Danilo Perrucci, head of sustainability and energy management global at BIP.

“With the world already experiencing the damaging effects of climate change, we look forward to leveraging our combined strengths to help meet the growing demand for net zero and sustainability support across a wide range of business sectors.”

The deal forms part of BIP Group’s broader growth strategy, as it looks to expand its geographical reach. In addition to its presence in the UK, the firm indicated it was considering “numerous options” for growth with a particular focus on France and Germany.

BIP Group boasts more than 5,000 professionals across office locations in 13 countries and operations in 40 markets.

Dave Worthington, Verco’s managing director at Verco, said teaming up with BIP would help strengthen its service offering to clients.

“At Verco, our mission is to provide solutions for a zero-carbon world, by making a material difference to global carbon targets, building a community of passionate professionals, and entering long-term collaborations and partnerships,” he said. “We are immensely proud of the strides we’ve made so far, and now, strengthened by BIP’s expertise and geographic and sectoral breadth, we are poised to rapidly accelerate our mission.”
